Not Doraemon Yet
Doraemon supposedly arrives from the 22nd century.
In 2026, we chat with AI. Voice conversation is starting to work, barely. Without waiting for the 22nd century, some of what Doraemon promised is already here.
But something feels off.
Today's AI takes my words, ships them to a data center, thinks there, sends an answer back. A Doraemon whose brain sits in a rack somewhere — something's off about that. A Doraemon that goes silent when the network drops. Poor Nobita.
Doraemon should be standalone. Sleeping in the closet, eating dorayaki, thinking inside that blue body. Self-contained. Complete.
With that excuse, I bought a MacBook mega-loaded with memory and CPU.
Local LLMs are still far off. But the desire is real: I want everything to finish inside this box someday. If Doraemon ought to be standalone, so should my tools.
